Futures at Fenway

Yesterday, we attended Futures at Fenway for the second year in a row. Though of course Adam was not present, we still represented Adam and the essence of minor league baseball fans, while two amazing games at Fenway! Here we are with the sign:

What a beautiful day for baseball it was! We first set up shop in Conigliaro's Corner, which provided a unique perspective on the game and plenty of bleacher space to display our sign. The first game (Lowell Spinners vs. Hudson-Valley Renegades) went at a brisk pace, but there was excitement at the end Jorge Jimenez rattled out a walk-off single to win the game for the Spinners!

Shortly later in the afternoon, the second game (Portland Seadogs vs. Harrisburg Senators) got underway. We ran into a buddy and joined him in Section 25 for a closer view of the infield. Since we were nice and close, I got some good photos.

Below: Bubba Bell scores on a wild pitch.

With Kyle Jackson pitching, Josh Whitesell heads off on a hit-and-run.

Iggy Suarez shoots an overthrow to first.

For more action photos, check us out on Flickr -- an album is up with Futures photos. And what does this day mean besides a lot of fun? Red Sox affliates are now 4-0 at Futures at Fenway! There's a great summary here of the superb day at Fenway. Thanks for stopping by -- feel free to comment if you were at the game!

Murphdog

Congratulations to David Murphy and his wife on the birth of their daughter, Madison on August 3! Just days earlier, on the trading deadline, Murph had been traded to the Texas organization in the Gagne deal, as we reported earlier. Now, Murphdog is up in the bigs, this article reports. Congrats on all your recent achievements, Murphdog!

Kason & Murph

Our old friends Kason Gabbard (see right, enjoying a Coke) and David Murphy have been traded to the Texas Rangers in the Sox's deal for Eric Gagne. We're sad to see them go, especially the quiet but secretly jealous king of the outfield. Gagne, of course, is Canadian, so at least maybe our "O Canada" serenading skills can pay off with him.

With some Adam news, who doesn't love being featured on canada.com? The article reads:
Possibly the best play of the night came when Norfolk centre-fielder Adam Stern threw out Pedro Swann, who was trying to score on a fly ball in the second inning.

Reunited with Adam!

Wow, the summer is flying by!
On June 27, 2007, a couple of us Fans of Adam were reunited with Sir Stern himself, as the Tides were in Pawtucket. Adam went 1-for-4 and had a nice little sac fly as Norfolk beat Pawtucket 6-3. Our sign made an appearance from the tower, most likely confusing all those in attendance. After the game, we were able to catch Adam before he hopped on the bus, and chatted for a few minutes about how things were going with all of us. Rick was also amused to see us. All in all, another great, relaxed night in Pawtucket with our old friends.

From top to bottom, the pictures are: Adam in center field, and Chris Hansen (MmmBop) pitching for the Paw Sox.

Speaking of Adam, he's heating up at we go into the dog days of summer -- in July he hit .261, beginning to return to his form of last summer.
